(Anita Burney’s Specialties)

Off the Beaten Path in Elm Springs

Shunpike Tour 101

Visit the small town of Elm Springs, Arkansas on Thursday-Saturdays (or by special appointments for evenings or midweek) and shop at unique retail shops on Water Street.

Formerly the site of the town’s old silent movie theatre, bank, and post office, these retail businesses have revitalized a 1900’s downtown area.

A costumed step-on guide will welcome your group and add a bit of Southern Hospitality for your group’s pleasure, and your group can choose to from a barbecue lunch, an afternoon tea, an evening desert night, or a picnic at the Springs.

(Shunpike, was the word used during the Victorian era, meant taking a trip, “off the beaten path” to a beautiful spot and having a picnic) (FORMAL definition of Shunpike is: a side road used to avoid the toll on or the speed and traffic of a superhighway in 1862!)

Anita Burney, Shunpike Tours, will be dressed in 1900’s Victorian dress and be your hostess while on tour in Elm Springs.

Allow Approx.

2 hours for Shopping, 1 hour for meal or deserts, 1 hour for Cemetery Stroll (optional)
